1. Who we are

wako is a media tracking app, a media center, and a remote control for Kodi, operated by Jean-Baptiste Malatrasi ("wako", "we", "us"). This policy explains what personal data we process when you use the wako app and website, why we process it, and your rights under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What we collect and why

We process the following categories of personal data, each for a specific purpose and on a specific legal basis:

  • Account identifiers (email, authentication provider ID via Firebase) — to create and secure your account and sync your profile across devices. Legal basis: performance of contract.
  • Profile, app settings and the library you create (watch history, watchlist, profiles) — to provide the tracking and sync features you ask for. Legal basis: performance of contract.
  • Subscription and purchase data (subscription status and purchase identifiers via RevenueCat and Stripe) — to manage your subscription and billing. Legal basis: performance of contract.
  • Crash reports and diagnostic logs (via Sentry and Firebase Crashlytics) — which may include your IP address, device model, OS version and the app state at the time of an error — to detect and fix bugs and keep the app stable. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
  • Usage analytics (via Firebase Analytics) — to understand feature usage and improve the app. Legal basis: legitimate interest (or consent where required).
  • Connections you create to third-party services (such as your media tracking accounts) — to execute the actions you request against those services. Legal basis: performance of contract.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not host, index, or have access to any media content you may access through third-party add-ons you choose to install.

3. Processors we rely on

The following third parties process data on our behalf, under their respective privacy policies:

  • Google Firebase — authentication, Firestore backup/sync, Crashlytics, Analytics
  • Sentry — crash and error monitoring
  • RevenueCat — subscription management
  • Stripe — web payment processing

We do not store or collect your payment card details. That information is provided directly to our third-party payment processors (Apple, Google, RevenueCat, or Stripe, depending on your platform).

Third-party services and add-ons that you choose to connect are independent controllers: when you link them, you share data with them under their own terms and privacy policies, at your own direction. wako is not responsible for how those services process your data.

4. International transfers

Some processors above are based outside the European Economic Area (e.g. the United States). Where data is transferred outside the EEA, it is protected by appropriate safeguards (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions) provided by each processor.

5. Retention

We keep account and profile data for as long as your account is active. Diagnostic and crash data is retained for a limited period by our processors in line with their policies. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise the personal data associated with it within 30 days, except where we must retain limited records for legal or accounting purposes (for example, payment records).

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, rectify it, erase it ("right to be forgotten"), restrict or object to its processing, request its portability, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise these rights, contact us at wakoapplication@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority — in France, the CNIL.

7. Children

wako is not directed at children under the age of 15. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security

We value your trust and use commercially reasonable measures to protect your personal data. However, no method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

9. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
