How to Install wako on Fire TV & Android TV

wako runs on Android TV, Google TV, and Amazon Fire TV. On Android TV and Google TV you install it straight from the Google Play Store. Fire TV devices don't have the Play Store and wako isn't on the Amazon Appstore, so you'll sideload the official APK from GitHub. Both methods are covered below.

Option 1 — Install from Google Play Store

On your Android TV or Google TV, open the Google Play Store
Search for “wako”
Select “wako TV” and click Install
Open wako and sign in with your Trakt or SIMKL account

This is the easiest method and works on all Android TV devices including Nvidia Shield, Chromecast with Google TV, and Sony/Philips smart TVs.

Option 2 — Sideload on Amazon Fire TV

wako isn't on the Amazon Appstore, so on Fire TV you install the official APK from the wako GitHub releases page. It only takes a few minutes with the free Downloader app.

On your Fire TV, go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer options and turn on Install unknown apps for the Downloader app (on older devices this is Apps from Unknown Sources)
From the Amazon Appstore, install the free Downloader app and open it
In Downloader's address bar, enter github.com/wako-app/wako-tv/releases/latest and download app-universal-release.apk (works on every Fire TV CPU)
When the download finishes, click Install, then Open wako and sign in with your Trakt or SIMKL account

Works on Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Cube, and Fire TV built-in smart TVs. The app does not auto-update when sideloaded — re-download the latest APK from the same page when a new version ships.
